Creative Ways to Use Photos in Your Wedding Decorations
2. Guestbook: Curating a photo guestbook is another way for guests to see a sneak peak at the development of your relationship. I have seen couples just use photos from their engagement session for a photobook or they use photos from the duration of their relationship. This makes for great memorabilia in years to come for you as you have both the photos printed in a book to cherish and the well wishes of loved ones who attended your wedding day. 3. Centerpieces: A fun and inexpensive way to add a personal touch to your centerpieces is with photos. I often see table numbers being displayed with a photo of the couple. Photos can also be wrapped around flowers, placed flat on the table, in a frame, etc. Again the photos make a fun addition for guests to migrate around tables and see your photos and to start conversation once everyone is seated. 4. Add to your Bouquet/Boutonniere: This can be a personal touch to add your wedding look for the day. I often see photos added to the bride’s bouquet or the groom’s boutonniere of loved ones that are no longer with us or that couldn’t attend the day, but they want these individuals included in the day. 5. Ceremony Program: I list programs as I see this most often, but this can be any stationary for the day (invites, programs, menus, place cards, etc.) Adding a personal touch with photos can be an easy way to design your printed pieces for your wedding and also hold true to your theme of the day - YOU! 6. Wedding Favors: Wedding favors come in all shapes and sizes - from bags of candy, to custom CDs, to can koozies, hand sanitizer (yay 2020!), sweet treats, mini wine/champagne bottles, etc. Whatever your choose to give your guests as a thank you for celebrating with you, customizing your packaging with a photo is a great way to add your personal flare. Tips for Family Photos with ToddlersThe good, the bad, the crazy - this blog post we are talking toddlers. Toddlers are an overload of all of the emotions and can often be unpredictable in behavior. Your family has booked a session and you are looking forward to updating your home with new photos to decorate your walls. How can you ensure that you are able to get great family photos that include all of your family. 1. Timing is key: Try to schedule your session at a time when your child will be well rested and not hungry. If you bump too close to a nap or meal, you may have a harder time getting your child in the smiling/playful mood to take pictures. 2. Keep them engaged: The last thing you want is for your child to get bored with pictures. If they decide they are done, it can be hard to make them change their mind. Try keeping them engaged with props, continuously moving and exploring different backdrops and photo spots - make the photo session almost game-like so the kids are more focused on just having fun. 3. Don’t force anything: This is a big one with toddlers. If they don’t want to do a certain pose or location, be willing to roll with it and come back. Help the toddler feel more like they have a say in what they are doing/posing with/when and they are more likely to listen and cooperate when you suggest something for the next shot. 4. Bring bribes: I say bribes lightly. I think it is a great idea to bring motivators for toddlers. Whether that be snacks, favorite toys, planning to do something fun after your session, etc. Help them keep their ‘eyes on the prize’ and the session will more likely be quick, easy, and stress-free for all. 5. Let them just be kids and roll with it: Kids can have their own agenda. Try to come with an open mind and trust your photographer to get beautiful shots. Kids may have a harder time doing lots of posed photos, but candid shots of them just being themselves can be truly magical. Often if the kids are enjoying themselves they are more likely to cooperate for full family pictures. 6. Bring a few of their favorites to use as props: I love this one! Maybe it’s their current favorite toy, a balloon, a blanket, a favorite book, etc. - chat with your photographer, they often accumulate props that they could bring along for your session! I love photographing toddlers! At the moment, I am enjoying the energy of my own strong-willed three year old and I know how fun, crazy, exhausting, and alive they can be. Toddlers are truly starting to blossom their own personalities and capturing them in photos make for absolutely beaming!
xoxo, Morgan My Love Story: Part Two - Saying ‘Yes’When Nate and I first started dating I was three months in at my first full-time post college job at Skyward in Stevens Point, Nate was about to begin his final year at UW-Stevens Point. I had just moved into an adorable one bedroom apartment and Nate was living in a college house with five other guys. Some would say we were living very different lives, but I think that for both of us the environment and lifestyle of the other was refreshing and welcomed, it was a nice balance. We met each other's friend groups quickly, had plenty of opportunities for social gathering, and were still able to have quiet, one-on-one bonding time when we wanted it. When Nate graduated the following Spring, he moved into my one bedroom apartment where we lived for the next few months. Nate also landed a full-time job at Skyward upon graduating. That summer we spent time trying new restaurants, exploring new walking trails around Stevens Point, discovering our favorite flavor at King Cone, going to lots of Rafters games, and playing trivia at local bars with friends - life was good. For a while, I had been communicating with a woman who had an english bulldog that was expecting puppies. I had always wanted a bulldog, and I paid a deposit as soon as I could to ensure one of these puppies would be mine (of course, depending on how many were born). On July 9, 2015, I received news that her bulldog had four healthy puppies, and I was fourth on the list! We were getting a puppy! Nate and I had been looking into moving into a bigger apartment for months, but had not found the right place for us yet. When we got word that we would have an opportunity to get a puppy, our timeline sped up quickly as our current apartment did not allow dogs. Luckly, after viewing a number of apartments we absolutely fell in love with a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment in Plover, WI. We moved in and a few weeks later, we brought our first dog, Plop, home with us. My goodness were we smittened by him, we felt we had the perfect family unit. We began new hobbies such as home brewing, cribbage battles, and for me fantasy football and all was going good. The year for my birthday, Nate got me a GoPro camera, which was beyond exciting and unexpected as I love all things photography and creativity. He also got a harness for the GoPro for Plop and a few other accessories to try, a new hobby perhaps? In January 2016, to break up the winter blues, we had planned a long weekend to Madison to explore this local, micro breweries. The trip was a Christmas gift from me to Nate (even though I was benefiting from this too ;)). Before we head out for the weekend, we were about to take Plop on his morning stroll around the block and Nate suggested we try on the GoPro harness and the GoPro this morning. Not thinking much of it, we set it up and were on our way. Half way on the walk, Nate stop, got down on one knee and ask me to marry him, I said “yes!”, he shot off a confetti cannon and Plop captured the whole thing on camera - it was perfect. We spent that entire weekend sipping new beers, giggling lots, and with a smile plastered to our faces 24/7.
